im sure you will get alot of different answers on this topic. as for my answer i gotta go not shawn white. ya thats it not him but everyone else…
Sure the instant answer most people come up with is Shaun White, being a competition slayer in the summer and the winter, but Mark Frank Montoya is my favorite snowboarder/skateboarder of all time. His style is incomparable and impeccable in both fields. Flow, to me is the most important aspect of both sports.
Bob Burnquist / Travis Rice
The reason why its these two guys is because they are always trying new stuff in their sports. T-Rice is always going big in his sport trying the craziest stuff youll ever see in back country so far… until he thinks of something new. He raises the bar in his sport so high for back country riding. As for Bob, who the flip builds such a huge big ramp at your house if your not going big. I believe Bob has raised Big Jump competitions so high.
Shaun White- because he let me have this photo taken on his first legal night of the bar party after in Park City nad made my daughters sooo jelouse
I think Joe Sexton wins this award. He is obviously sick gnasty at snowboarding, but he is also super good at skating. Don’t believe me? go to youtube and type in Joe Sexton Skating and check out some of those videos! He is super good!
definitely Shawn Durst! All I got to say is if you saw this machine in the snow or the streets you know what I am talking about. He likes to fly under the radar however keeping his presence known with his trick ability.
Simon Chamberlain – Simon is by far my favorite snowboarder. His style on the snow is unmatched, his skating skills aren’t far behind. And he achieved one of my dreams which is to launch and run a successful clothing company.
danny way easily best hybrid snowboarder/skateboarder. i say this mainly because of the unreal super ramp he build several years back to break some world records. 75 feet? thats an impressive distance on a snowboard but on a skateboard? crazy shit. and that gravatar shit wouldnt work on my comp ’cause its old and crummy but check out faceinhole.com. thats some entertainment.
Its true most people would say Shawn White, but im confused is it the best that does both or is the question just say whoès your fav from either sport?? cause if its for best at both its shawn white when you think of it, but if its best at each. i Gotta go with Rodney Mullens cause he is just insane at what he does, no one can keep up with him and he is jsut the best freestyler skater out there ever, as for snowboarding id say J.P. walker, Or Tadashi Fuse those two are just sick at everything they put out on vid.
MFM for sure the guys cross over skills are unmatched really by one. it’s pretty ridiculous. his style on his skateboard was passed on to his snowboarding. he has such good flow, and everything he lands is buttery smooth. it’s just fun to watch!
It would have to be Shaun White, because of his dedication and how he still remains true to his fans and the sport of snowboarding and skateboarding. He dominates the field of both sports and lives to do what he does, un-doubtly an inspirational figure but a legend. He lives to be the future.
Jed Anderson… he is so good in fluid you can never tell if he is riding his regular stance or switch, and kick a$* at skate boarding. Scott Stevens would be the runner up though.
I have to go with shaun white as he is the only person who can stand at the top of the podium in both sports. Their are deffinently other riders who excell in either sport but dont posses the same ability. Show me another rider who can do a 900 on both skate and snow or who has won gold in both snow and skate at the x games. hands down shaun white (plus he has red hair) flying tomato all the way
Scott Stevens for sure. The guy does insane tricks no one else would even think about on a snowboard, then gets on a skateboard and does the same. I met him p at HCSC this year a super nice guy too!
i think that it could be Travis Rice.
shawn white hands down for his progression of the sport from when he was a young teen ripping up the half pipes to the older tomato hitting up the backcountry, still slaying the competitions both on skate and snow, and still working on new progressions within the sports…
The best combo and still the best combo is Shaun White (A.K.A). The flying tomato! That dude is still coming up with new tricks that never been done before and has all that GOLD to back it up. This man is killing the game and still has many more years to keep on smashing. Hands down although no disrespect to the others either but Shaun’s another breed.
It’s easily Shaun White because he’s always winning in all the competitions. He brought more attention to snowboarding than anybody else because of his performances at the winter olympics. He’s the Bo Jackson of skateboarding/snowboarding!
thought i would be the only one but definitely Scott Stevens. just check the stack footy bonus feature scotts skate edit and see him hold it down for western mass. 413!
MFM super awesome snowboard! he is one of the biggest names in snowboarding! he does tricks that some people would not think of on rails and jibs! When i went to bear last year i met him he is really nice guy!
my favourite rider is definitely JP Walker. The man is so dope.I remember watching him years ago and even today his tricks are so fresh. He also made a completely switch part in “This Video Sucks” which is unheard of.JP’s also awesome because his chin is huge.He has a chin like superman or like some other buff superhero. It’s also a butt chin and i have a butt chin so we could be like best friends
My favorite pro skateboarder has got to be Chad Muska i pick him because in Tony Hawks Pro Skater he was by far the coolest character to pick, he had pink grip tape and did that sick muska nose manual trick! As for snowboarder im gonna go with Michi Zirngibl. He’s is part of the isenseven film crew from Germany and they have released such vids as Teenage Love Graffitti and Ubermovie. He is a super awesome snowboarder and he has fun with it and you can tell. To him its all about having fun with friends and killing it all day!
my favorite snowboarder/skateboarder would have to be arnold schwarzenegger. because he on a snowboard he can say “Who is your daddy and who does he work for. On a skateboard he flies around as turbo man and yells “JAMIEEEEEEEE!” Other than that I heard he is good at giving you an excellent hot carl while supplying you with a blumpkin
jp walker
jp walker is the best snowboarder/skateboarder. his style is amazing the way he puts his hands above his head. he is the only skateboarder/snowboarder who could slam dunk a hoop while snowboarding if their was a basketball hoop above a rail. he also has a giant chin and looks like a umalumpa.
BEN HINKLEY. egg fart maddam. butt cheek clapper. squinchy turtle head poker outer. douchebaggery performing butt hole. russian butt jobbing fart fignutant. candy apple toilet bobbler. stroggen shvinky mouse. sneaky weiner bubbling sphincter rocket. dennis rodman. zeppelin sized vagina hole. braided ass beard rastafarian. butt chaffing spartan. late dookying swampnali troll nipple ring.
Who cares. You skate and shred for fun. Lucas Magoon in my opinion is the best ‘double threat’ +++vibes Gooner
I know is doesn’t seem like to PC thing to do lately, but the answer, hands down, is Shaun White. There are many unbelievable skate/snow riders out there, but the level that White has taken with both sports is to undeniable. What he has accomplished in both sports as far as competing, has made him a legend. I know competing isn’t necessarily the heart of the sport, but none the less, the kid kills it. I’m not on the Shaun White hate wagon because I’ve been around long enough to see many like Michael Jordan, Travis Pastrana, Metallica, and Gary Coleman get hated on just because they’re on top. Take it for what it’s worth and you’re boards are sick. WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT HEAD!
everyones picking shaun white because he’s the only snowboarder they know
these people don’t even know snowboarding,
my favourite would have to be torstein horgmo because he kills it every time, and because of his new part in black winter.
all time greatest part it was sick.
I would say scott stevens. but i obviously cant win with all these other kooks saying him too!! so Im going to say eero ettalla. Mostly because he is the greatest ever!! and because his skating is better than Eiki Helgason’s. by a little.
I know you think im gunna say sean white right? Wrong… my favorite snowboarder is Terje Haakonsen. He shreds the big mountain backcountry like no other. My Favorite skate boarder will have to be Bob Burnquist. He may be older than the other new skaters but he still wins and is a solid rider. He has flashy tricks and also style. Some kids no are all about being flashy… What ever happened to style? Those two guys i mentioned have both.
Sure the Flying Tomato has got some mad skills, but my favorite would have to be the penta-threat Heida Birgisdottir…She skates, boards, surfs, has her own clothing line and has that hot Nordic chick thing going on. If I score this set up I would totally challenge her and the Tomato to a ride off…I would lose worse than a chicken in a dog fight but it would be an epic day.
i would gotta say terje haakonson because he helped snowboarding progess so much, but he also changed the style of snowboarding in general, snowboarding and skate boarding are so connected that terje defiantly impacted the skateboarding community, I dont know if terje was a good skater but he revolutionized snowboarding and skateboarding too. He is such a role model to look up to. projekt haakonsen really made my view on snowboarding change. now it is what i live for. Terje Haakonsen is my favorite snowboarder and is best ever.
Travis Rice / Rodney Mullen
Travis for his double backflip with the second one laid out in That’s it That’s All, and Mullen for pretty much making skateboarding what it is today
My favorite skateboarder/snowboarder would have to be Jed Anderson after watching his Ask a Pro video on transworld. That video was definitely one of the most hilarious things i’ve seen and I respect him just for the fact that he acts like himself. I’m not going to lie, I do joke about his small stance on his snowboard (who doesn’t?), but I don’t really care, that dude can shred. He definitely had a sick part in Get Real (that long wooden rail was daf!) and I like his style of riding. You gotta like his skating too, you can see some snowboard style play into his riding, just watch some videos on youtube. He’s one of the few riders I’ve seen that will actually skate the bowl at the park along with street. I think most people will agree that Jed Anderson is a super good skateboarder/snowboarder and he is definitely a favorite among the crowd.
Rob Sluggo Boyce was my favorite skate/snowboarder. He would go so huge on a skate in the pipe and also so huge on a board. He’s just the one that stands out in my mind from the early years for both sports.
I would have to say Eero Ettala – just seeing progression of his tricks is amazing, and always has awesome video parts/contests
My favorite snowboarder is my friend Kelly. She is incredible! She is a great person. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen! She is an avid snowboarder and has won numerous competition and trophies. She also runs the snowboard section at our local ski shop. She is beautiful and has brains! She talks about snowboarding so much that I want to learn. She is going to teach me this winter. There is nothing like learning on the best equipment from the best instructor! I already have the best instructor, now all I need is the best board!
I definitely have to go with jp walker because lets be honest he pretty much is just another level in snowboarding, Like come on, his all switch part in this video sucks is better than most riders parts these days. Hes also not too bad at skating.
TRAVIS PARKER!
Why did I choose Travis, while there so many snowboarders whose tricks impress me as much as his? Because when I see him riding, I can see his passion for snowboarding and for learning new things. When I see him doing astonishing tricks, I feel he does them to inspire other riders rather than to show off. When I see him having fun on his board I know instantly that’s him as he has such an unconventional style. But even though snowboard is his life, it’s not all he cares about. Travis’s worried about the environment and tries to increase people’s awareness of climate change in an extraordinary way, what makes him absolutely unique for me.
He might not be the skater who is doing the comps in the summer but Kevin Pearce is a sick skater and snowboarder. At his house in Vermont hes got a nice mini ramp and Ive seen him skate that with some of the frends crew and he was sick. So, eventhough hes probably not at the skate comps i think Kevin Pearce is the best skater/snowboarder.
TODD RICHARDS.
Because he’s a awesome. What more do you want?
Shaun White because he is dominant on both, he rips snowboarding and can compete with the pros on skateboard vert. Amazingly talented
Not a huge fan of the USA/Canada restriction
(
SIMON CHAMBS! is he sick on rails? yes
is he sick in backountry?yahuh
is he sick in pow?ya
competitions? uhuh
shred 4 life badass?yaaaaaaaaa
lives life the way he wants to and bends it?yes
a role model for the world? yes
skateboarder: mark appleyard, because he always has bangin’ video parts. and he has takin’ skateboarding to the next level, for over the last decade. plus his part in extremely sorry is outstanding.
snowboarder: nicolas muller because he isn’t like most of the main stream snowboarders. he can slay anything, like contests, park, pretty much everything. but his whole overall thing to do is have fun. and who isn’t about that?
Danny Way, He has the coolest style in both sports. And more heart than a lot of people. Just look at the X-Games this year, He had to drop in switch because of his leg. And he didnt land anything on the mega rail for the most part of the comp. Hes the guy that pioneered the mega ramp. The guy is older than most of the other skaters out there in more pain then the guys out there still givin it his all and walked away with a gold.
While I am not very plugged-in to the skateboard scene, my favorite snowboarder/skateboarder is Scooby Doo. He has no job, doesn’t bother with contests and travels the country in a pimped out van. I think if you check out the internet he has video games for snowboarding and skateboarding. Yes his video games are pretty lame but I’ve heard the same about Shaun White’s game. He even has his own snack food. He and his buddy Shaggy, are liven the dream.
I believe this contest is neglecting to mention all the great snowboarders/rollerbladers of our time. We’ve seen many shredders previously engage in the sport of aggressive inline. I can think of Pat Milbery, Aaron Biitner, Cameron Pierce, Torstein Horgmo, and my all time favorite Matt Lindenmuth for his triple flips on bladz and double flipz on shred sticks. Sure skateboarding/snowboarding is an easy bill to fill, but the talent it takes to ride sideways in one sport, then go straight and have independently moving feet in another sport is astonishing. Please, for the sake of history do not forget about our blading brethren.
i came in late to this one but obvoiously its shaun white OBVIOUSLY DUH!!!
My favorite snowboarder is Ross Rebagliati because he shreds Olympic gold medals while smoking trees everyday and still gets away with it.
I have got to go with Travis Rice. Not only his awesome skills but he is sponsored by Quiksilver and that is probably my favorite brand of clothing. For the skateboarder I will say Tony Hawk because skateboarding is his life’s work. He did work during comps and now he announces for the X-Games what an awesome job!
Id have to say eddie wall. He my favourite snowboarder/skater of all time hes so good at both. Hes my favourite rider cus he got so much style and steez. His favourite video of mine is probs his dc mountain lab part but i love all of his vids.
I would have to go with Jed Anderson.
Danny Kass… Sick shredder, very good skater… does it out of straight love for the sport…. built his own company… and it doesn’t get much better than i believe Todd Richards going through the list of the US Mens snowboard team… Forty-seven years after the last time the Americans swept anything in the Olympics, we get the U.S. snowboard team who come in, and they do it. And they were the perfect package. You had the pretty boy,J.J. Thomas. You had the consummate professional, Ross Powers, and the dirtbag, Danny Kass.
jed anderson for sure! on a snowboard and skateboard he rips so hard and is always down to try something new and harder. hes got the smoothest style, can do everything switch or regular, no worries, and is the funniest kid ever. I met him at high cascade and he was a really nice guy. plus his riding blew minds every day! and he a cheesedick, what more can you ask for?
i have to echo Tom Reay and say Danny Kass. It was cool to see him throw some cool skate tricks in Full Metal Edges. His smooth style on the snow shows up on his skate style as well.
jeremy jones, epic snowboarder in alaska. many contributions to the sport through his passion for the ride.
eric koston, sick technical style.
Danny Kass, would have to be my favorite snowboarder/skateboarder. He has won Olimpic medals and X Games medals in snowboarding. He has bean pushing the next generation of snowboarding. Now he has bean skating all around and hes a real good skater. Thats why Danny Kass is my favorite snowboarder/skateboarder.
Well, my favourite snowboarder would have to be Terje Haakonsen because he shows his own style and obviously has mad skills. He paved the way for snowboarding in today’s name as he showed people fear wasn’t an option if you wanted to be good. He’s fearless and it shows.
My favourite skateboarder would have to be Nyjah Huston, only because he is so brave. Oh don’t forget he is only 15. He turned pro at 11 years old, the youngest person to ever turn pro in skateboarding. He can compete with anybody older than him, and give them a great fight. He shows young people today what determination really is!
My favourite pro at both skateboarding and snowboarding would have to be Shaun White, it does sound a bit of a “band wagon” you could say, but nobody can deny that he’s amazing at both. People think just because he is over-publicized that he is over-stated. I have to strongly disagree, quite honestly I think he is one of the best snowboard half pipe riders and he’s up there in skateboarding pipe too!
Scott stevens hands down, not only does he continuously bring out sick and creative snowboard parts, he has the skating to back up where his creativity and style comes from, its also fun seeing both skating and riding in a video, considering that is what i do, i pretty much skate when their is no snow, and when their is i ride. but above everything i say, just about anyone who skates and rides is respected in my book because both are so fun and thats what this shit is all about.
I hate to be a bandwagon kind of guy but shaun white just is way too sick.
Todd Richards because even befor he was snowboarding he was winning skate comps up and down the eastcoast and he is one of the sickest shredders on the planet in skate and snow
Shawn White for sure, you cant stop him on snow or concrete he’s on fire just like his hair.
TJ Schneider. He has been able to perform, demonstrate and teach many moves he learnt as a skateboarder. See pages 168/169 of Septembers issue , There is nothing “fakie-ing about TJ ” he is steezy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have to say any female who has advanced the sport of snowboarding. Women in sports have come a long way over the past 35 years. We all know the institution of Title IX made many more opportunities for girls and women. However, the fearless drive and determination of women like Tara Dakides have made the idea of being a pro snowboarding and achieving huge tricks possible. Young girls and women need those positive role models in their lives and I’m glad there are focused and fierce women in the sport that show others that you can be athletic, pretty, respected and successful; all at the same time.
Peter Line, he’s done so much for snowboarding
