  2. Henchbot on October 9, 2009 at 9:46 am

ok she rips, no doubt. All those girls ride really well in fact, but the soundtrack is just pure gnarl. The goggles are awesome but I dont have a girl so they would have to go to my gramma as the ultimate xmas stocking stuffer.
Im probly not going to win this one…

  3. lizgoetzke11 on October 9, 2009 at 12:17 pm

She definitely knows how to shred all different typres of terrain and does it in pure Gretchen style. She is a true inspiration to all girls out there!

  4. Sarah on October 9, 2009 at 12:54 pm

I really like how Gretchen talks about learning things about yourself and how something may seem so tragic, but it can lead to your most triumphant moments. I love the way she rides! Love all powder shots:) totally awesome and she has sweet gear.

  5. stephen on October 9, 2009 at 1:11 pm

I love Gretchens’s neon board, which gives a great effect, which i’ll dub te “lightsabre” effect ;o)

Gretchen’s shredding is sick in this video! I’m lovin all of her grabs off that cliff in the backcountry. I especially like the camera angle from the top of the halfpipes during those competitions… it helps me see what it’s like for her and other snowboarders about to drop in. Hopefully I can get to her level one day :)

  10. brookesta on October 11, 2009 at 12:01 am

The most epic part about GB’s segment in STANCE is all of the BC terrain that she slaughters. I did not expect to see her outside of the pipe tearing up the powder. Watching her sled into some of the craziest zones makes me psyched to learn more about snowboarding and the backcountry. Thanks for the inspiration Gretchen!

PS- that double grab in the pipe was insane!

  11. lauren on October 11, 2009 at 6:03 pm

Honestly, I loved her whole part. My favorite especially was when she had that camera in her hand filming herself riding powder and getting face shots. That right there is the best stoke you can ever get snowboarding.

She also rides powder, drops cliffs and rides the halfpipe, which honestly, still a lot of girls don’t do. Nowadays the park is full of girls which is awesome, but I wish there were more who could ride powder and halfpipe. Hopefully Gretchen, along with MFR and others, will help lead the way to get other girls to become more well-rounded and discover that there is so much more to snowboarding than just rails and jumps. I discovered that when I finally moved to Colorado from the Midwest, and I’ve never been so stoked before. Love it. Others need to experience it too!

Well, there’re a couple of angled shots & tricks that caught my eye I could mention, but ironically, honestly, I’d have to say that my favorite part of Gretchen’s section pretty much matches up with what she said at the beginning of it. It is kind of cheesy that they do the whole face shot/”model” thing with the lip gloss & all, & even though I really don’t know much about Gretchen as far as who and what she is as a person, it’s obvious that they’re makin’ a point of her being “pretty” & all. What I’m getting to here though is, is that she talked about her fall at the X-Games & that even though it sucked when it happened, that she was able to find good in it, & see that if nothing else, it gave her a moment to stop & reflect on everything & realize that it’s not all about “getting 1st place” all the time or “being the best” if you will, but more importantly being able to realize what’s more important in life, & that’s being able to enjoy it. As she said, “being in the moment”!
That being said, lends itself exactly to what my favorite part of her section is, at 4 minutes & 9 seconds into it, is just the shot of her standing on the rock looking at the hill, mountain, or whatever have you. True, she may have just been looking at what line she was considering taking or something like that, but whatever it was, it’s just the beauty of the moment. It’s not looking at her, it’s not getting all stoked on a particular trick, although let’s admit it, that’s why we all ride, but more importantly, just being able to stop for awhile on occasion, look around, realize that where you are is beautiful itself, & just being able to take it all in, soak it up, & realize that you’re truly ALIVE & LIVING, how blessed you are to be able to do what you do, so on & so forth. That’s it…, really! I could keep going on & on here, but that basically sums it up, that’s all I’ve gotta’ say. God’s creation, living life, adrenaline, peace, serenity, beauty, balancing it all out if you can, & the meaning of it all…, later people, peace!

Gretchen knows how to inspire young women to have fun, be strong, and pursue their passion no matter what the obstacles. Love the gear:)
    Keep up the good work!
    Love from a snowboarder’s mom

  14. Steve on October 12, 2009 at 8:59 am

My wife would love this swag, and you never know the pink goggles might go well with my eyes! haha

Anyway, the thing i like most about Gretchen’s part is the versitility shown in the backcountry to add to what we know she can do in comps and in the park. Great work! Great song choice too!

  16. Josh Paloma on October 12, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Gretchen Bleiler’s segment was sick. From her intro all the way to her holding the cam slicing backcountry pow like butter, i was hooked. and The views they shot her from show how big you can go. especially shooting it HD.
The way she rides is ridiculous.
This is the second season my girlfriends boarding. After showing her this video, shes more pumped than ever, and im definitely feeding off of it. She watches Gretchens part over and over again pointing everything out EVERYDAY and i dont mind one bit.

  17. capnz on October 12, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Her part was pure gnar squeezed out of gretchen herself. Loved the end where she spray the camera with powder while carving to sick to be true!

  18. lauren on October 13, 2009 at 8:10 am

Damn, james comment is good… damn you, i’m deaf, i don’t know what she’s saying there haha but visual wise, her part is awesome.

  19. Stavros on October 13, 2009 at 8:49 am

Like Stephen said, the first thing that popped out at me was the light sabre board as he called it. To me it made the spins and airs in the awesome backcountry stand out that much more.

  20. sbetsy on October 13, 2009 at 9:00 am

I love watching Gretchen play in the powder because her style is so playful and smooth, but it was nice to hear her say that when tough things happen and the world “slows down” you can see past yourself. I started boarding at an age where I thought that I knew myself. I thought that I knew that I didn’t like cold, going fast, falling down, or getting hurt. I tried boarding to please other people and found that I really didn’t know myself at all! I love being cold, going fast and I can totally handle falling down and getting hurt. Boarding has given me the opportunity to see past myself and realize that I can surprise myself. Boarding is joyful. Boarding is play. Boarding is a chance to be strong and powerful. Thanks Gretchen for letting us watch you learn about yourself and have fun boarding!

As a young female boarder, Gretchen gives me the inspiration to be able to stay with the constant progression of snowboarding. That segment where she just talks about how her major wipe out in the pipe changed her and really made me think, really made me think as well. Not just about snowboarding but my life! It made me think “What do I take for granted?”. Then just flipping from that little intro to some of the sickest angle work and footage of female backcountry that I’ve ever seen, really made me realize that sometimes yeah, it’s important to remember the safety basics of backcountry riding, but other than that you just gotta shut your brain off and live in the moment-taking in everything you can. See the world with both eyes, not just through a camera.

  22. Joel The DJ on October 13, 2009 at 10:27 pm

Well, what can I say. Gretchen’s Definitely One of the best women sherdding it up with the best of them. She her time in and hits the hills hard and she is a babe too lol.

I have to say that Right the pipe I think was some of the best she did thought sherrding the back country was really good. My favorite trick was I believe the Big rodeo in the pipe, I just love them and watching her stick it was really awsome to watch I think. I like the video to, whole thing. It probably could have been maybe a little better but so can everything else right? JUSt let them keep doing what they do and they will get better to, with filming and womens snowboarding lol.

  23. Christina on October 14, 2009 at 3:09 pm

My favorite thing about Gretchen’s part was when she was shredding through all the powder. She looked like she was having a blast and totally got me stoke for this season. Seeing such a strong halfpipe rider blast through powder definitely showed that pros like to have fun too. It also reminds us why we got into snowboarding in the first place, cuz it’s fun!!!! Not everyone can drop cliffs or hit the pipe but everyone loves a little powder!!

  24. Larry on October 29, 2009 at 6:42 pm

DEF the grabs off the cliff, and how her ass looks when she’s nailing it

  25. Eric on October 30, 2009 at 3:38 pm
