Women's Rider Of The Year #3 Jess Kimura

DOB: 5/25/84 || Stance: Regular || Home Mountain: Silver Star, BC
Sponsors: Capita, Union, Monster, Electric, Monster, Coal, Celtek

Clocking in at just under 3-minutes, Jess Kimura’s full part from 2016 is an anomaly in that it is the most diverse women’s video offering in terms of terrain and trick selection in a very, very long time, easily earning her the #3 spot in our Women’s Rider of The Year results. “She is a legend,” states eco-evangelist and Full Moon feature player, Marie-France Roy. “Jess delivers every year no matter how many obstacles come her way. She is a huge inspiration to me and so many other girls for all the right reasons.”
While the argument can be made that some of Jess’s contemporaries are more progressive in any one element, the fact of the matter is that no other female is trying to raise the bar from the backcountry to the back alley quite like Kimura. Rather than resting on her much celebrated resumé in the streets and letting tricks like 270s onto ledges and closeout step down boardslides carry her season, the regular-footer from Vernon, BC has elevated her game in the alpine by throwing cripplers off of trees, Miller flip mushrooms transfers and double kick one-footers into pow! Lucas Huffman took a break from rolling out the 10th Anniversary release of his seminal ir77 multi-media classic, to not only let his opinions be known by voting but also opine eloquently about what sets Jess apart from the rest. “She never stops ripping. You can see how committed Jess is to pushing her progression and it pays off when she's throwing down very gnarly urban drops. Her style in the backcountry is smooth and powerful. She rules it all, which is more than many other riders.”
